Where a man has been unfortunate enough to experience other trauma in his life, particularly if he had a lot of bad experiences as a child, then the impacts of recent sexual assault can ‘echo with’ the effects of his old trauma.
This means that all the effects described above may be worsened, along with triggering old memories and pain.
See SURVIVING CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ASSAULT for more information about childhood sexual assault.
The information provided in this part is also largely relevant to other childhood traumas such as physical abuse, neglect, bullying, family deaths or other disasters.
