Where a man has been unfortunate enough to experience other trauma in his life, particularly if he had a lot of bad experiences as a child, then the impacts of recent sexual assault can ‘echo with’ the effects of his old trauma.
This means that all the effects described above may be worsened, along with triggering old memories and pain.
